Julep Ursula

I have a few crackle nail polishes that I wear very infrequently. Julep had Ursula on sale for 2.99 with the rest of their crackle polishes, I figured if I was going to use any crackle black would be the easiest to use since it goes with everything. I usually like to use a thinner coat when using crackle so there are more lines but with this one the black isn't as deep with a thinner coat so I did it thicker. Underneath I used Fiona and Nellie from Julep and Guava, Craving Coral and Mesmerize from Revlon. I like how it looks, but next time I think I will do it thinner so there aren't as many large chunks.

Woofstock

Last weekend we went to Woofstock with our dog. This year it was at Woodbine Park at the Beaches rather than St. Lawrence Market area. There were a lot of complaints about this due to parking and whatever, but I take the TTC so this was not an issue for me. I liked this location better, the grass and the trees made it a lot better for my dog then a city block.

There was a large grass area that had all the tents for the vendors as well as the food trucks. We got a lot of free samples and purchased a few items. This was a short walk down a pathway to what they called the activity area which also included the VIP tent.

We went to the VIP for a while and to get our bag, he loved laying in the middle of the floor in everyone's way. Then we took him to the obstacle course from PawsWay, he did all the obstacles but I think he was bored of them since he's so used to jumping so high over our furniture at home already.

After the obstacle course we headed home, this time on a a fairly empty bus which the dog enjoyed since he could look out the window. The picture above is all the stuff we got, mostly for free. We purchased a bag for $10.00 from PJs Pets which had a lot of the stuff in it, and gave a donation to Blue Buffalo for their stuff. We won't be needing to buy treats anytime soon now :). It was a great event and I hope I get to go again next year!

May Barkbox

This months BarkBox was only 4 items, but one of Tarantino's favourite boxes so far. This month he got 2 toys and 2 types of treats. He has learned he needs to sit while I take a picture before he can take anything as you can tell from his unimpressed face below :)
Here is a close up of the 4 items. I got the 6 month subscription of BarkBox for large dogs making it a little cheaper, since I am in Canada I have to pay extra shipping.. so for the 6 months it is $24 a month.

It's a little difficult for me to find the prices of some items found in BarkBox since most of them are American and cannot be found in Canada, but this is what I found for this month.

The item that he grabbed first out of the box was the kitty toy. His name is Rozcoe the corduroy kitty from the company Loopies. I have found this item priced anywhere between $26 to $35, so this item pays for the box on it's own. Usually he kills toys with squeakers and stuffing pretty fast but he has not been able to with this toy yet.
The other toy is the Megalast Ball from JW Pet which costs 12.99. This is the type of material that he likes to chew and it bounces all over the place making it a great toy for him to chase around.
The first bag of treats he got is Nootie's BBQ Chicken jerky which is made in the USA and can be broken easily into smaller pieces if needed. These cost 12.99 for 16 oz, the bag in the box was 5 oz.
The second box of treats are apple cobbler from Snicky Snaks. He always loves treats like these and they are very healthy. The ingredients are oat flour, rye flour, oats, brown rice syrup, canola oil, apples, cinnamon, ginger, whole eggs and nonfat milk - all organic. They cost 9.99 for a box.

So the total value of this box is between 53 and 62 dollars plus tax if you were to purchase in a regular store.

Victoria Day Fireworks

On Monday (May 19th) I went to the Victoria Day fireworks at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto. I got there by TTC which is recommended, and after trying to take the TTC I can see why. I got off the subway at Woodbine Station to take the 92 bus, but when I went to the buses they had special buses running that were supposed to be express to Lakeshore. This bus was barely moving down the road from the traffic so the driver finally let us out to walk the rest of the way, if he hadn't of we probably would have been late. We got there just in time to set up a blanket and sit down and watch the fireworks. These are some serious fireworks, lasting close to 15 minutes. There's a couple videos and pictures below. After they were over rather than leaving right away we decided to walk down the pathway a bit and see what there was around. We ended up getting ice cream, cotton candy and pizza. There were pizza pizza tents, ice cream trucks, a poutine stand, hot dog stands, cotton candy/popcorn trucks, and so much more. I assume those are there before the fireworks so it would be worth getting there somewhat early to avoid the traffic and get some snacks.

May Ipsy

So this is Ipsy for May, it's a lot different than all the ones I've gotten in the past. Normally I get mostly makeup products but this one is mostly lotions.
The first thing I got was Pacifica Mineral Eye shadow Duo. The one I got was Duo #1 with Celestial and Opal which can be found in the Mystical Supernatural Eye shadow Palette that retails for $14.00 and has 4 shades (Opal, Moonbeam, Celestial and Stargazer). I was happy to be getting this shade since I have blue eyes and typically wear browns, however it's a little shinier than I would wear on a daily basis.
The second item is pur~lisse pur-moist hydra balance moisturizer for normal-dry skin in a size of 15 mL. This sells on their website for $55.00 for 50 mL.

The third one is Thermal Spring Water from the brand Avene in a size of 50 mL. This is supposed to be used on your skin when you have razor burn, irritations, sunburns, etc. This sells online for $18.00 for 300 mL.

The fourth is Sans Tan Anti-aging Sunscreen by Jersey Short Sun in a size of 0.5 oz. It is is SPF 35 and is a fairly thick cream and has a very strange scent. This sells for $40.00 for 2 oz.

The last item Take It Off! Exfoliating Honey Peel Off Mask by Hey Honey in a size of 10 mL. I am most excited for this item, it smells really good and I like these types of products. This costs $35.00 for 50 mL.

This bag is worth $43.50 which is a great value but I have so many little samples of these types of products that I'm trying to use up. I really like the bag it came in this month, I like the feel of the fabric and the colours.

Maybelline Street Art Polish

Ever since it’s come out I’ve been OBSESSED with Sephora’s Formula X Xplosives line, but I could never pay so much for such a small amount of polish. The other day I was in my Shoppers with my sister and browsing the clearance section and came across Maybelline Color Show Street Art polishes on clearance for $3! The bottles only contain 7 ml, whereas the Formula X bottles contain 12 mL but for 1/5th the price you can’t go wrong. I wasn’t even aware that this line existed and was beyond excited to find these. There were three colours (red, green and blue) so obviously I grabbed all three. These polishes are called Wild at Heart (red), Green Graffiti (green) and Nighttime Noise (blue).

The day before I saw these in Shoppers I purchased Max from Julep since it was on sale for $5 but I haven’t received it yet, so we’ll see how it compares when it comes in. I swatched these on plain white paper and on a few difference shades of polish to see what it looks like and I love it!

This is what they looked like swatched on Zealous by Revlon, Joanna, Susie and Jessica by Julep and Mesmerize by Revlon. The green looks good on the darker colours, blue on the lighter colours and red looks great on all colours. A while ago I tried Chaotic from Formula X which is closer to the colours Julep’s Max is going to be, but compared to these three they are very similar.

On the left is Green Graffiti and Wild at Heart on Mesmerize by Revlon. On the right is Chaotic with one of the green shades from Formula X. The Maybelline line seems to have smaller pieces in it, but I found it easier to get a more on my nail at a time without having to paint it on too thick. So far I am in love with these polishes and would highly recommend them. These sell for less than 6 dollars full price which is totally worth it due to the versatility of them.
